Harbour Green Park

Eclectic Cohesion

Overview

When our client moved to the city centre from the quiet shores of Deep Cove she asked us to reimagine a 1990s sea-side 4 storey townhouse into a serene oasis, and home base for global adventures.

Seeming contradictions were sought as we developed the look and feel for the home: elegantly casual and cohesively eclectic. A neutral palette is the foundation layered with the warmth of wood are peppered calming blues. The intention was to  allow an extensive art collection to bring life to the spaces while layers of personal treasures make the spaces intimate and welcoming.

This house captivates not only with its beautifully designed interiors, but also with its location and breathtaking views.

We crafted an architectural screen to subtly define the entry from the living room by incorporating two thin vertical sections of wall at irregular angles. Designed to feel like an original feature carved out to create openness, this approach avoids adding anything that might detract from the art collection.

"The pieces are stylistically eclectic, but the fabrics and finishes complement each other to create an original and refined environment."

Each corner of this home is imbued with character, blending modern furniture with handcrafted, locally sourced pieces.

Bec Brittain’s Seed 02 Pendant for Roll & Hill hints at a bygone era of crystal chandeliers.

In the kitchen, a thinly framed open shelf above the fridge and pantry allows light to filter through from the windows in the mudroom and living rooms.

A thin wood frame surrounds the tall millwork around the oven
in the kitchen, creating a delicate and refined detail in the minimalist custom millwork design
The Wolf gas cooktop is mounted flush with the countertop for ease of stirring in taller pots.

"Monotone does not necessarily mean mundane. The crystal ceiling fixture adds a dollop of glamour, while the white lampshade grounds the space."

The Adriel Murano Glass Chandelier was added to the ceiling in the primary bedroom as the most subtle feminine accent to the calm and quiet ambience of the space.

In the primary ensuite, brilliant white glazed ceramic tile and millwork brighten the space by reflecting natural sunlight from the south facing corner window.

A feature wall of aqua hued tile imbue the space with a calming reference to the Burrard Inlet on the other side of Harbour Green Park.

The design weaves subtle blues throughout, from the living room rug to kitchen granite and the calming aqua wall in the primary ensuite, evoking the natural beauty of Vancouver's coastal setting.

Identity, 2024

A meditation and yoga room was created in a small den with views of the North Shore mountains. The door to an adjacent deck washes the space in morning sunlight.

The vibrant white mudroom houses an eclectic mix of the client’s art, a vintage console, a Charlotte Perriand LC8 stool and a Seeingglass by Sabine Marcelis.

On the one hand, the house is a harmonious space conducive to relaxation, and on the other, an eclectic kingdom of style, art and design.
